El Rastro de Xaló
Every Saturday brings Xaló’s well-known flea market, the Rastro, stretching some 600 metres. Spanish houses are often sold with everything still inside from decades past, and once those homes get modernised, a lot of it ends up on markets like this one. There are real finds to be had among it.
Over the years the market has grown to include several arts and crafts sellers who make jewellery, toys, art and more by hand.
Parking is available at several car parks at the start and end of the market, for €2. Avoid parking in the village itself, so you don’t annoy the people who live there.
Along the market you’ll find several spots for breakfast or lunch, and don’t skip the Mercat de la Terra, the farmers’ market further along.
The girls are never far from the big table of charms about halfway along the market. They always go looking for that one charm they don't have yet, and running your hands through the pile is oddly irresistible.
